WebDec 12, 2013 · Took about a week for the truck to start leaking again but very small looks more dirty then we. So called dealer and they quoted me $2680 to do both sides. Are they on drugs? I just had this done on my truck under warranty. According to my paper work it is about 160 in parts per side and I think warrenty pays 2.0 per side. WebNov 18, 2015 · Started leaking around 30k miles. Put about 10k miles on it after the repair then traded it in for a 2014 crewmax. No leaks during that 10k mile period. No other issues other than a lot of residual oil on the undercarriage right after the repair (the tech said it's a really messy job).

During the process, the dealer crack the passenger side cylinder head and replaced that and the head gasket with a new OEM head. My guess is that the timing cover head to come off during all of this. And valve springs are somewhat of an issue with the super-high mileage ones from that era. It’s covered by the powertrain warranty. So buy certified preowned and you’ll be good to 100k miles. This leak typically shows up around 60-70k if it even leaks at all.
